DIY Coloured hair highlights using Chalk.

These temporary chalk highlights are something I've read about on a few blogs now. Most recently Gem Fatale's Style Blog! Which is AMAZING by the way, could read it for hours. Anyhoo decided to jump on the bandwagon and give it a go for myself!

All you need to do is soak your desired colour of Chalk in some warm water for 5/10 minutes, and just run the wet Chalk through your hair! I found this quite tricky to do, I had to try a few different ways before I got the simplest way to run the chalk through my hair! Luckily because my hair is so long, I was able to hold strands of hair out on to some paper, and just run the Chalk over my hair.

You're left with quite a wet, tangled peice of hair, (Or my long hair was) which I then put the hair dryer on, using a large barrel blow dry brush to get it dry quickly. This hurts! My hair was very matted and it pulled at my scalp quite a bit but I was willing to put up with it. I used Red, Blue, and Purple in my hair, and when it dried I was left with gorgeous faded blue pink colours.

Obviously, this is going to be to everyones taste, but I've often wondered what my hair would look like with something a bit more funky through it rather than plain old natural colours. Anyway, colours dip dyes seem to be getting increasingly popular, so I wouldn't be surprised if this takes off a little bit more! I'm hoping this washes out after one go like everybody claims it does, but I shall keep you all updated!

Boots heated rollers

I've been dying for heated rollers for I don't know how long now! On Saturday I got Boots own heated rollers, also called "Style solutions". Had a bit of a mare the first time I used them though! You get 3 different sized rollers, and 3 different sized grips to secure them in place with. Being too over excited to use them I went straight ahead and grabbed the biggest roller and....the hair grip for the smallest roller. Every now and again I'd hear a PING, my roller would drop out, and the hair grip would have flown off to the other end of my bedroom! I thought the different coloured tips at the bottom of the grips were to make them lok nice, not to represent a size difference! Can't even believe I'm admitting this major fail on the internet.

A full 24 hours of sulking over rollers later, I tried again and this time noticed that whole grip/roller situation. After that everything went perfectly! Insanely good value for money when you see these Enrapture rollers over the internet which I think are something like £60+. These were £22.99 and did the job perfectly. They took about 10 minutes to heat up and there's a handy little red dot on one of the rollers that goes grey when they're ready for use. They're pretty hot but you would have to stick your finger inside the roller to do any major damage, as I was considering getting some heat proof gloves to use with them!

If you've always wanted to try these out then I definetely recommend these! I can't compare them to any other brand as I havn't tried any others out, but these seem to be the cheapest, and I've seen and heard a lot of good things about them. Clynol curl bounce fluid

I'm very rarely seen with straight hair, infact, I dont think my straighteners have been on for a number of months now (maybe even a year or 2!) I'm forever using a curling wand/curl stick to acheive more volume througout my hair. Once again my problem with my long hair is that my curls drop very easily and as my hair is so heavy it can really flatten down on my head and around my face. So the next product in my journey to find something to tame my long, thick hair is....Clynol curl bounce fluid! Clynol is'nt a brand I had ever heard of until before recently, so I didn't really know what to expect.





First Impressions: First of all I like the bottle a whole lot more than the schwarzkopf one, but I'm not sure that if I was browsing for some hair products that I would be drawn to this or if I would buy it. It looks a little but more sophisticated that most other hair product packaging, and comes with a pump on the top for easy application.

Initial thoughts on the product: First thoughts on the product itself and the smell is that it seems to have a similar consistency to conditioner ( That's the only way I can describe it!) and I really, really like the smell! It's sort of zesty in a way, and I think of holidays when I smell it, but I just cant put my finger on what it's similar to! It's not really stick at all and I found it really easy to control the amount of product I wanted to put on to my hands and through my hair.

How it works for me: Like the Schwarzkopf product, It instructs you to work through damp hair before drying, or you can apply to dry hair to refresh your curls. After application and blowdrying, I found that it has a similar affect to when you hairspray your hair first and then curl your hair (If you know what I mean) As for applying to damp hair, I thought to myself, "Isn't this going to make my hair really greasy?!" And actually it's not that bad! I applied it to uncurled dry hair as I didn't want to risk it turning my curls greasy, and I can't describe what your hair feels like but it seems to make it more...pliable?! I can see how you could get some really nice messy effects from this product, so stay tuned! The great thing about this product is that is seems like it has multiple functions :)

This is something I'm definetely going to experiment with, it could just turn out to be a product I can't live without! What are your favourite hair products for creating certain styles?!

Schwarzkopf OSiS+ body me hair serum review

Having very long thick hair, I occasionally struggle with volume at the roots, since my hair is so heavy. Even using rollers and blow drying with a large barrel blowdry brush doesn't seem to have much lasting effect, so I'm always searching for something to combat this. I've used many volumising products from Vo5 to shockwaves hairspray and nothing seems to last. The latest addition to my haircare collection has been this, 'Schwarzkopf OSiS body me fullifying volume serum', quite a mouthful, eh? It claims not only to increase your hairs volume by 100%, but to also protect from heat and leave it smooth to the touch. I don't know about you but I never have much faith in these products and their figures, but it seemed worth a go anyway.

First off, I'm not a major fan of the packaging, I know it's inside the bottle that counts, but I'm more likely to steer clear of something I don't like the look of on the outside primarily. The colouring of it all is fine to me, it's just the shape, in all honesty I think its hideous! It doesn't really fit in with all my other hair products and if I was to take it travelling with somewhere I can just see it being a pain. I prefer something a little more sleek and stylish in my hair products rather than chunky.







The first thing I usually do when I get the product home, or if you can in the shops, I like to have a good old smell! I'm very easily put off by things that don't necessarily smell bad, but just aren't to my liking (GOD I sound fussy) This has a very typical smell of a hair product, fresh enough, but maybe a little too 'soapy' smelling for my liking. It's very difficult to describe a smell through text, bit of a decision you have to make for yourself!

One of my major pet hates when using hair serums is the horrible residue it leaves on your hands, quite annoying how you have to have a towel at hand or make a trip to the nearest sink to wash them afterwards. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get the desired amount of product out on to your hand, if you only want a small amount, its impossible to try and wipe it on to the side of your hand from the bottle without it all caking back round the dispenser, I've noticed that if you don't clean it off, the leftover stuff goes all crusty. Not nice!



SO ANYWAY. Does it work? I'll have to say yes! I applied this to damp towel dried hair directing most of this to the roots as that is where I need volume the most and proceeded to blow dry my hair. I could see an instant uplift the more dryer my hair became. It became a little big and wild at the ends, my hair is so thick I don't need volume there but that's a good sign it does what it says on the tin! For the best effects I found using a large barrel brush to blowdry really helped make my hair bigger and bouncier. Sadly, I can't say this product lasts too long in my hair. I always think hair companys make these products and test them probably with an average hair length in mind, and mine is WAY longer than average. I could see this working great for people with shorter hair. Maybe I should go search for a company who specialise in hair producst with my length in mind!

So there you have it! Sort of a mixed review, but when it came down to the actual product, I think it's pretty good, I just have too much hair!

Messy fishtail plait.

I dont really do these kinds of posts/pictures very often, I'd really love to do FOTD'S and OOTD'S but the lighting in my house sucks. I do have an SLR for quality pictures but I could probably do with a tripod so I can take them easier. I also have white walls in a room downstairs which i suppose are perfect, I just need to get my hands on a tripod!

I took these earlier on, the lightings poor, but the plait is pretty :) Just thought I would share with you so I can get a bit of variation throughout my blog posts! Personally I LOVE fishtail plaits. They're a bit time consuming on my hair since it's so long, but they look effortlessly stylish. I just pinned a few peices of my hair back and also pulled a few other peices out!



Haha, I have a bit of a dodgy arm in this picture! I had my bag over it. I was on my way out! Incase anybodys wondering, my blazer is from the Missguided sale which is still happening I believe! It was like, £11, bargain! It's very thing and lightweight, not great for this weather but I like it. My top is so old, from Topshop a few years ago! I hate to throw out things I love.



I hate having a massive chunky bobble at the end of a nice plait, really need to get my hands on some clear elastic bands. I backcombed and hairsprayed the ends of this, I'm just waiting for the hair gods to strike me down now for ruining my hair...

October Favourites!

Ebay Rhinestone Wheels: If you're in to nail art (or likes to have a go at nail art) like me, and you havn't already picked up some of these, then DO! Ebay sell these little babies at around 99p a pop, you do have to wait a little while for them to come since they are mainly sent over from China (Everythings cheaper in China! YAY!) From stars, butterflies, sparkly rhinestones and even funky little fruit shapes these are awesome little bargain buys for nail art! I think i was changing my nails everyday at one point with these! So many options!





MAC Bare Study Paint Pot: This doesn't even need a description! Gorgeous colour, amazing base, over an eye primer this little beauty has kept my eyeshadow in tip top condition for hours at a time all month, MAC Paint Pots are my new love, Cant wait for my Glitter and Ice paint pots to arrive!




Clinique Moisturiser: I have problems with dry skin every month of the year, so it is really compulsary for me personally that i use a moisturiser always. I get it mainly above my cheeks/under my eyes (where i would usually apply highlighter!) to the point of it really stinging if i dont use a moisturiser. Clinique is my favourite because my skin doesnt feel greasy after i use it and a little goes a long way.



VO5 Volumising Spritz: Having incredibly long, thick hair, i have major trouble in getting my hair to sit up at the roots, i know even after using rollers everybodys hair will drop at some point, but my rollers dont even seem to create much volume in the first place! I noticed an instant difference after spritzing my damp hair with these after drying it! Obviously, it doesn't last forever, especially with thick hair like mine, but mainly above all...i can't get enough of the gorgeous smell of this stuff!
